The first floor of TECO-NY was transformed into a miniature concert hall and members of the community became a captive audience as Cornucopia, a group of five Taiwanese musicians, performed an eclectic mix of mostly classical music on August 22, 2014.

Cornucopia is comprised of Lu Chang-En (violin), Lo Wei-Ting (violin), Tang Yi-Hsun (French horn), Chuang Ming-Yuan (cello), and Cho Kuan-Ting (piano). They are all studying at the Manhattan School of Music.

They performed a beautiful sampling of music that exhibited their talent: a Dvorak piece for four hands (two pianists), violin and French horn solos, and arrangements of Taiwanese folk songs, excerpts from Japanese film scores, classic love ballads, and even some Disney.

The concert drew a capacity crowd leaving standing room only. This was a perfect start to the TECO Concerts, organized by the Education Division of TECO-NY. This is a series of five concerts featuring the talent of Taiwanese student musicians. The fall concert, the next in the series, will be on October 24. If you missed these, be sure to try and catch at least one of the Christmas, spring, and summer concerts which are still to come.
