Two Successful “Study in Taiwan” Seminars Held in Asuncion
The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay and the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) held two “Study in Taiwan” seminars to promote Taiwan as a study destination for students interested in pursuing higher education studies in foreign countries.

The events were designed to increase Paraguayan students’ knowledge about this beautiful country and assist future candidates undertake the scholarship application process.

Ambassador Alexander Yui and Ms. Marien Peggy Martinez Stark, director of the OEI, opened the first seminar. Ms. Yang Shu-Ya, Second Secretary and educational attachée at the Embassy gave a brief introduction to Taiwan’s education system, and the different academic programs and opportunities that Taiwan is ready to offer.

Director Federico Mora also spoke at this occasion, presenting details of Paraguay’s new “Carlos Antonio Lopez” study-abroad scholarship program. It offers opportunities for studying master’s degree and doctoral programs. And students who had received a Taiwan Scholarship, ICDF Scholarship, or Huayu Enrichment Scholarship participated in both seminars and shared details of their experience of living and studying in Taiwan.

Paraguayan authorities including Dr. Hector Rojas, the Vice President of National Asuncion University; Dr. Salvadora Giménez, the Director General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education; and Stella Sánchez, the Director General of Scholarship Affairs also participated in the seminars.
