Promoting “Study in Taiwan“ for young German politicians
Ms. Weng Chin-Ying, Director of the Education Division of the Taipei Representative Office in Germany was invited by the Association of Christian Democratic Students (Ring Christlich-Demokratischer Studenten) to give a presentation on the education system of the Republic of China with a focus on higher education to members of one of its working groups.

More than 30 people attended the presentation on January 17, 2016 in Berlin. This student association is part of the German Christian Democratic Union Party and its members could become German politicians in the future, so they were very interested in the result of Taiwan’s presidential election and democracy in action there.

After answering their questions, Ms. Weng encouraged these young people to strongly consider studying in Taiwan, where they can make friends with young people there, and make good connections with Asia. She outlined the wide range of study possibilities available, including many courses and even full degree programs that are now completely taught in English; the Mandarin Chinese programs; the scholarship programs; and campus life in Taiwan. The audience responded very positively.
