Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) and McGill University Sign an MOU
The three-year MOU with the Ministry of Education establishes a Fund for Faculty Excellence in Taiwan Studies. McGill University will teach classes, conduct public lectures, and purchase materials on Taiwan Studies for the next three years. The Department of East Asian Studies will be able to draw on this funding assistance to promote excellence in the teaching and research of post-doctoral scholars, and thereby enhance and expand their Taiwan Studies related contributions to the Department, and to the wider academic community. The scholars will be required to teach an interdisciplinary course with the principal focus on Taiwan. The synergy created will enhance the professional and academic development of Taiwan Studies.
This collaboration also provides a framework for the joint development and implementation of proposals in identified areas of common interest. One such area is exchanges of academic staff with universities and/or research institutes in Taiwan. Their expertise can be tapped to teach modules in postgraduate programs in the respective institutes.
