Jingmei Girls Senior High School in Taipei signs an MOU with Foreign Language Specialized School in Hanoi for regular student exchanges
Foreign Language Specialized School is located on the campus of the Vietnam National University in Hanoi, and it is an affiliated senior high school of the University of Languages and International Studies -VNU. It is one of the three national gifted high schools in Hanoi and it is Vietnam's only high school specializing in teaching foreign languages (including Chinese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, and Russian). It recruits 500 to 600 students every year and nearly 4,000 junior high school graduates registered for the independent entrance examination held by Foreign Language Specialized School in 2017. The results of the school’s graduates in the nationwide university entrance examination are ranked as the foremost in Vietnam.
At the MOU signing ceremony, the schools discussed an exchange plan for the next stage. Foreign Language Specialized School will send a group of between 10 and 20 teachers and students to pay a one-week visit to Jingmei Girls Senior High School at the end of October.
Lee Ming, Director of the education division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, pointed out that getting to understand and know each other at a relatively early stage of life will enable young people to cultivate cross-cultural skills and enhance the level of foreign languages, and this in turn will enrich their life. The cooperation between Jingmei Girls Senior High School and Foreign Language Specialized School will also serve as a good example for other schools.
