Malaysia Taiwan Industry Academia Research and Entrepreneurship Centre established in Selangor

The centre’s official opening ceremony was held at the One City Mall in Subang Jaya on October 26, 2017. The centre is supported and funded by the Ministry of Education, Republic of China (Taiwan) and Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU), under the umbrella of the Taiwan Connection program.
The new centre's chief executive officer, Kevin Peng said during his opening remarks that the centre’s main goal is to strengthen two-way academic and industrial exchanges between the two nations through various initiatives.
“We will be working on conducting workshops, seminars, and cross-field research projects in order for the relevant universities and industry partners to exchange knowledge and information, and assist universities in Malaysia and in Taiwan to organize international internship programs.”
He added that the centre also plans to build relationships between experts and scholars in each country to further boost skills and academic exchanges.
Among the dignitaries present at the opening ceremony were James Chi-ping Chang, the Representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Malaysia (TECO); Dr Samuel K.C. Chang, the president of Chung Yuan Christian University (CYCU); Chu To-ming, the director of the Education Division at TECO; and Diego Bo-Wun Bai, the assistant deputy director of the Education Division.
James Chi-ping Chang said during his speech that the center will play an important role as a bilateral exchange platform for industry-academia collaboration, skills training, and international internship programs. He believes that the center will also help implement the New Southbound Policy Work Plan which focuses on four areas: economic and trade cooperation, skills development exchanges, resource sharing, and regional connectivity.
