The first ever Taiwan–Korea Young People’s International Exchange Program Workshop was held on February 23, 2019 at Seoul Garden Hotel. The workshop was organized by the Korea Edu-Tour Association, and eighty people participated, including principals, and teachers of elementary and secondary schools in Korea. Ms. Wong Jingyi, Administrative Officer of the Education Division of the Taipei Mission in Korea, was invited to attend.
Kim Jo Young (金朝寧), president of the Korea Edu-Tour Association and a former principal of Jamsil High School, spoke at the opening ceremony. He welcomed all the distinguished guests participating in the workshop and expressed appreciation for the efforts of all those who have contributed time and energy to implementing international education tours between Taiwan and Korea.
The theme of the workshop was “Activation of International Exchanges between Taiwan and Korea for Children and Adolescents” and there were presentations and discussion regarding three aspects: 1. current exchanges; 2. case examples of exchanges; and 3. difficulties & solutions. These explained the procedures for participating in education tours and analyzed the barriers to promoting international education tour programs.
Shiue Guang-Feng (薛光豐), chairman of the Taiwan International Association for Education Tours was invited to speak at the opening ceremony. He mentioned that the number of groups that offer education tours to Korea had increased rapidly in the past five years, from 26 to 63. He hoped that this workshop would give all the attendees a better understanding of the current exchange programs available, and he looks forward to having more opportunities to implement exchange programs with each other in the future.
