Mahidol University Invites Taiwan Education Center in Thailand to Hold Taiwan Cultural Activities

Mahidol University has organized several cultural activities to acquaint its students with other cultures and to encourage them to study in countries which offer high quality higher education.

The Taiwan Education Center in Thailand, along with NAME, a Mandarin Chinese language teacher sent to Thailand by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, assisted Mahidol University in Thailand to hold Taiwan cultural activities on campus on April 3, to enhance the understanding of Thai students of Taiwan’s culture, and to encourage them to consider undertaking part of their higher education in Taiwan.

The teacher from Taiwan talked with the participating students about the meanings and the origins of some important festivals in Taiwan, including the Lantern Festival, the last day of the lunar New Year in Taiwan. The Thai students then tried their hand at making and then tasting some glutinous rice balls (湯圓), a food traditionally eaten at that time.

Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, gathering together before the upcoming of the Thai New Year. And some students took advantage of the opportunity to ask about studying in Taiwan.
