On May, 7, the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) officially approved the attendance of live spectators at baseball games by the Chinese Professional Baseball League (CPBL) for 1,000 spectators from May, 8, becoming the first professional baseball league in the world to play before spectators. The Sports Administration, Ministry of Education (abbreviated as SA) appeals to the public to cooperate with the epidemic prevention measures at all stadiums to protect their health and that of others while enjoying the games.

Since the reduction in the seriousness of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in our nation, the SA has cooperated with the CECC to promote the ‘New Life Campaign for Epidemic Prevention’. After the CPBL proposed to the SA the plan of the attendance of live spectators at baseball games, this plan was forwarded to the CECC for review. The CECC has approved the attendance of live spectators at baseball games for the admission of 1,000 spectators per game on the premise of implementing the following principles:

  1. Keeping social distancing.
  2. Utilizing a real-name registration system and sitting in designated seats.
  3. Properly planning the entry and exit routes.
  4. Maintaining food hygiene and safety.

To fully implement these epidemic prevention measures and to cooperate with the latest epidemic prevention policies of the CECC at all times, the SA will assist the CPBL with the epidemic prevention measures in accordance with the suggestions and standards of the CECC. The SA will also cooperate with all the epidemic prevention measures of the local governments in the places where the activities are held.
