Online “Study in Taiwan” Conferences for Thai

The outbreak of the coronavirus led to schools and universities in Thailand shutting down. So instead of going onto campuses, the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand and the Taiwan Education Center in Thailand (TEC) adopted new methods to inform Thai students about Taiwan’s higher education. Since April 29, the Education Division and TEC have conducted seven online video conferences using the Cisco Webex Meeting app, giving Thai students an opportunity to learn more about Taiwan and Taiwan universities from Thai students and alumni studying in Taiwan, and university representatives stationed in Thailand.

On June 19, 2020, for example, the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand and the Taiwan Education Center in Thailand (TEC) co-hosted an online video conference, during which Ms. Panida Phanun, a Thai student taking the Master Degree of Business Administration program at National Pingtung University shared details of her experiences of life and studying in Taiwan, and answered questions from Thai students online.

Since 2018, the Education Division has also been promoting Taiwan higher education on Facebook Live by inviting Thai students and alumni of Taiwan universities—including National Taiwan University, National Taiwan Normal University, and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology—to participate in live interviews. The outbreak of the pandemic put a temporary halt to live interviews but schools and universities in Thailand have just reopened.
