The Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vietnam held an award ceremony in Hanoi on July 30 to present the 2020 Ministry of Education Taiwan Scholarships and Huayu Enrichment Scholarships to this year’s 47 recipients from Hue Province and areas of Vietnam further north. Ms. Chen Jin-Ling, Deputy Representative at TECO in Vietnam; Mr. Huang Yun-Chung, Deputy Director of the Consular Division; Mr. Chu To-Ming,  Director of the Education Division, and Ms. Hsu Hui-Yi, Secretary of the Immigration Division all attended the ceremony.

Ms. Chen Jin-Ling congratulated the 47 recipients, pointing out that Taiwan has been evaluated as one of the countries in Asia offering the best quality education. Furthermore, more than 70,000 Taiwanese businesses are currently investing in Vietnam and they have huge requirements for high quality human resources so the scholarship recipients will have many career options. She urged them all to study hard and also enjoy experiencing the culture and wonderful foods in Taiwan. She expressed hope that after enhancing their professional knowledge and skillsets in their respective academic fields, they will all help to build further cooperation between Taiwan and Vietnam in the future.

After the award ceremony, the Education Division presented sessions outlining the scholarship regulations, Taiwan’s immigration regulations, and the visa application process and the recipients had an opportunity to ask questions. A student who won a Huayu Enrichment Scholarship last year then shared details of her experiences to help them prepare for their departure for Taiwan.
