There are 20 Taiwanese Student Associations at different universities in the Kansai area in Western Japan, and these associations are all members of the Taiwanese Student Association in Kansai. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka assisted the Taiwanese Student Association in Kansai, to hold its first joint meeting this year, on July 11. This joint meeting was originally scheduled to be held in March but had to be postponed because of COVID-19.
Thirteen presidents and one vice-president, from thirteen different Taiwanese Student Associations at universities including Kwansei Gakuin University, Osaka University, and Tenri University were able to attend the meeting. The matters they discussed included their new office bearers and the responsibilities that each has, the end of year party, and general exchanges of details of their experiences in Japan.
Amber Lin, the Cultural and Educational Affairs Attaché at Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka, also attended the meeting and spoke about a range of practical matters, including the pandemic prevention measures and related entry-exit measures of Taiwan’s government and Japan’s government. She also explained some education related matters, such as the Regulations Governing the Assessment and Recognition of Foreign Academic Records by Institutions of Higher Education, support available for doctoral thesis printing costs and the Post Graduate Work Permit. She encouraged them to stay positive, stay healthy and study hard during their stay in Japan.
It was a lively, cheerful meeting. After the formal discussions, some food gifts were shared out.
Peach Aviation had provided complimentary preserved foods for the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Osaka to give to Taiwanese students under its jurisdiction, and Kinokawa City Office in Wakayama Prefecture and JA Kinosato Farm Association had sent gift boxes of peaches to share with the Taiwanese Student Associations at each university to encourage them to pay careful attention to their diet and health. Special thanks were expressed to all of them.
