Taiwanese Student Selected as One of Japan’s High School Student Peace Ambassadors
Japan selects High School Student Peace Ambassadors each year from all over Japan. This year is the 23rd year and for the first time, a Taiwanese student in Japan was selected to be one of the 28 2020 High School Student Peace Ambassadors.
Ms. Lin Yun Zi is a Taiwanese student who moved to Japan when her father was transferred there three years ago. She’s currently a second year senior high school student at the international school in Kobe city and she was selected to represent Hyogo prefecture.
She’s highly concerned about environmental issues and takes part in the environmental protection activities of Climate Youth Japan, Fridays For Future, and other associations that care strongly about global climate change and sustainable development issues. Lin Yun Zi hopes that more people will realize the relevance and importance of stopping the manufacture of nuclear weapons and care about and support peaceful development in our world.
The selected ambassadors normally visit the United Nation headquarters in Geneva to appeal for the abolition of the manufacturing of nuclear weapons but this year an online conference is being arranged because of the pandemic.
