In early November, 2020, second year dance students at Taipei Municipal Zhong Zheng Senior High School gave a lively Russian folk dance performance at the 2020 Taipei City Education Fair in Taiwan. The Education Division of the Taipei-Moscow Economic and Cultural Coordination Commission (ED TMECCC) in Moscow informed the Moscow–Taipei Coordination Commission on Economic and Cultural Cooperation (MTC) in Taipei. The MTC very graciously helped the school to borrow the Russian folk costumes you can see in the photos, and Sergey Chudodeev, Consular section chief at MTC came and saw the students perform at the 2020 Taipei City Education Fair.

Students at the school performed a dance they’d learned in Samara during a very successful cultural exchange visit in late September last year led by Ms. Chiang Hui-Chen, the school principal. This was the first such visit ever made by a senior high school in Taiwan and the group of students was warmly welcomed. They visited Municipal schools No. 41, No. 176, and No. 154, and gave a joint concert with the Russian students at Municipal School No. 154, performing martial arts, Chinese opera, and contemporary dance pieces. The students from Taipei also took part in a master class on Chinese opera and ballet at the National Samara Ballet Academy.

The dance class students showed the audience in Taiwan the Russian folk dance they’d learned in Samara. Sergey Chudodeev, the Consular section chief complimented the school highly for the students’ outstanding performance and said he looks forward to students being able to visit Russia again for more exchanges after the COVID-19 pandemic comes to an end.

For the time being, the Taipei Municipal Zhong Zheng Senior High School is working with the Education Division of the Taipei-Moscow Economic and Cultural Coordination Commission (ED TMECCC) to organize online cultural exchange activities with a Moscow high school and a Samara high school, to broaden the dimension of bilateral educational cooperation.
