TECO in Vietnam visits Thai Nguyen University - Lao Cai Campus
A delegation from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam made a 2-day visit to Thai Nguyen University - Lao Cai Campus on December 10 and 11, 2020. Thai Nguyen University - Lao Cai Campus is located close to the border between Vietnam and Yunnan province in China, making it the northernmost university in Vietnam. Indigenous people comprise 65% of the population of Lao Cai province, so a major responsibility of the university is to provide education and training for them. Another is to assist the social and economic development of Lao Cai and the surrounding provinces.
Mr. Chu To-Ming, Director of the Education Division at the Taipei Ms. Chang Shu-Ching, Secretary of the Education Division, Prof. Hsu Hui-Huang, Director of the Science Division, and Mr. Tai Po-Hsun, Secretary of the Economic Division were warmly received by Dr. Hoàng Văn Hùng, the Director of Thai Nguyen University - Lao Cai Campus, two deputy directors, and 28 staff members. They held discussions on university cooperation, selection of Chinese language teachers, university lecturer training and education, and research cooperation possibilities.
Mr. Chu To-Ming, Prof. Hsu Hui-Huang and Mr. Tai Po-Hsun explained the functions of the Education Division, the Science Division, and the Economic Division of TECO in Vietnam respectively. Each of the TECO delegation members also gave details of ways that TECO in Vietnam could assist Thai Nguyen University - Lao Cai Campus. For example, to develop further relationships with universities in Taiwan, to deepen scientific cooperation, and for its students to attend recruitment fairs organized by Taiwanese enterprises in Vietnam. This was all enthusiastically welcomed by the university.
