Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City holds TOCFL Tests
The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City has been conducting the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL) tests for many years as part of its work promoting Mandarin learning and evaluation in Vietnam, South of Da Nang. The tests are held in various cities, including Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Can Tho, and Dong Thap, and more than 2,000 applicants each year apply to sit for the tests. The Education Division also assists Taiwanese businesses by arranging tests especially for their staff members.
People sit for the TOCFL tests for a number of reasons: to be eligible for admission to some university programs, or to be eligible to apply for a Taiwan Scholarship, or simply to assess their Chinese proficiency.
The Education Division held the first TOCFL tests for 2021 at Taipei School in Ho Chi Minh City, on 10 January, from 7:30am to 6pm. This particular opportunity to take the tests was definitely the most intensive so far: 210 students applied to sit for the tests and 200 took part. Extra measures were taken to ensure safety and prevent any spread of the pandemic. Everyone had to have their temperature taken and their hands sprayed with alcohol before going into the computer room. In addition, each of the students was required to wear surgical gloves provided by the Education Division while using the computers to take the tests. The tests all went very smoothly.
