In light of the implementation of social distancing policy in Hanoi, the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Vietnam held its annual Ministry of Education Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship awards ceremony online this year, on August 5. More than 60 scholarship recipients and their parents took part in the ceremony.

Mr. Chu To-Ming, Director of the Education Division served as master of ceremony. The one-hour ceremony began at 9:45 in the morning with a welcome by Representative Richard R.C. Shih, from TECO in Vietnam, and this was followed by an outline of the scholarship regulations, and information about  residence in Taiwan and visa applications, given by other TECO personnel.

There was lively discussion during the Q&A session, when the students asked questions about Taiwan’s current entry policy, whether being vaccinated was a pre-requisite for entry, the quarantine locations and the quarantine costs, and whether it was possible to shorten the quarantine period.

The ceremony was reported by major media outlets: the Central News Agency in Taiwan, and Bao Moi and Doanh Nghiep in Vietnam.
