Taiwan–Sydney Joint PhD Scholarship Webinar - a Partnership Supporting Researchers and Students
A Sydney–Taiwan Partnership Showcase and Joint PhD Scholarship Webinar was held on 14 September to showcase the partnerships between the University of Sydney and Taiwan:
on one hand Sydney University’s research partnerships with universities in Taiwan, and on the other hand the jointly funded Taiwan–University of Sydney Scholarships, which fund up to five scholarships each year for Taiwanese citizens to undertake a PhD program at the university. More than 200 students in Taiwan registered to take part in the webinar.
The webinar was organized by the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia and the university. It started with presentations by professors at the University of Sydney and at National Taiwan University on research partnerships in the fields of medicine and health, engineering, arts, and social science.
A Sydney University speaker then explained how to apply for admission to the university and for a Taiwan–University of Sydney Scholarship. 2022 will be the 3rd year that the PhD scholarships will be awarded and a number of the current recipients talked about their experience there.
This scholarship program is one of 16 that the Ministry of Education has established with top-ranking universities around the world under its with World Top 100 University Scholarship program. These include the Australian National University and the University of Sydney in Australia.
