Online Pre-Departure Orientation for Taiwan Scholarship & Huayu Enrichment Scholarship Recipients
The Education Division in San Francisco hosted an Online Pre-Departure Orientation for Taiwan Scholarship and Huayu Enrichment Scholarship recipients on September 16. Sixteen scholarship recipients took part. The State of Washington is one of the areas under the jurisdiction of the Education Division in San Francisco, and Daniel Chen, the Director-General of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Seattle took part in the briefing session. He congratulated all the awardees and encouraged them to treasure their opportunity to study and learn Chinese in Taiwan, commenting that immersing themselves in a different culture will expand their worldview.
Jennifer Chu, the Senior Education Officer of the Education Division in San Francisco, then shared practical details about each of the scholarships, before wishing all the recipients an amazing journey in Taiwan.
Wendy Hsich from TECO in Seattle, then explained the process of applying for a student visa. Taiwan has closed its borders to almost all inbound travelers since May this year because of Covid-19, and so the scholarship recipients have been waiting for a while. They are now all enthusiastically anticipating their upcoming journeys to Taiwan and they wanted details of Taiwan’s current pandemic situation, quarantine policy, and the vaccines in Taiwan.
The application period for the Taiwan Scholarships and Huayu Enrichment Scholarships is from February 1 until March 31 each year. You can find detailed information about the two scholarship programs here: https://depart.moe.edu.tw/SFEN/Default.aspx
