Welcome to the Study in Taiwan E-Newsletter October Issue
The October 2021 issue of the Study in Taiwan e-newsletter compiled by the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Australia is now available. Lockdowns led to most schools in major Australian cities fully moving to online teaching mode from August 2021. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Australian educators have adapted to online teaching, adjusted their timetables, and organized using resources such as recorded videos with their students. Nevertheless, shifting to teaching online demands a lot of resources and a lot of thought on how to engage with students.
The first article in the October e-newsletter outlines a range of high quality online resources, designed by educators in Taiwan for Mandarin teachers, including professional development opportunities, digital cultural resources, online courses, YouTube resources, and more.
Another article, 2021 Creative Film Project, features Mónica Chávez and Juan Garrido, two international students from Central America studying in Taiwan. TECO invited these two students to create a film to share some of the most memorable parts of their studying in Taiwan experience. Their 3-minute film gives viewers a taste of the great energy and excitement of studying abroad; as Mónica explains, “There is a variety of languages, places and goods to try and Taiwan is just an amazing country to do it.”
There are also articles giving details of Taiwan’s gold card for professionals in the fields of education and sports, and the 2021 Taiwan Experience Education Program - TEEP. You can read the full version of the October issue of Study in Taiwan here.
