Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages Hosts Advanced Mandarin Teaching Workshop in Vietnam

On April 13, 2024, a delegation from Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages, comprising Dr. Liao Shu-hui 廖淑慧, Director of the university’s Chinese Language Center; Dr. Li Jia Hao李家豪, an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Chinese; Dr. Lin Tsui Yun林翠雲, also an assistant professor in the Department of Applied Chinese; and Chen Zhaoyu陳昭宇, a specialist at the Chinese Language Center conducted an advanced Mandarin teaching workshop in Vietnam. Twelve Mandarin teachers who are working in Vietnamese universities took part in the workshop.
At the start of the workshop, Chu To-Ming 朱多銘, Director of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Vietnam, spoke on behalf of Taiwan’s Ministry of Education, and thanked Wenzao Ursuline University of Languages for conducting this workshop in Vietnam. He also commended the 12 Mandarin teachers who were spending their weekend participating in a workshop to learn new teaching methodologies. Director. Chu emphasized the importance of such initiatives for improving Mandarin teaching skills in Taiwan and Vietnam, and he expressed his hope that the workshop would facilitate exchanges about teaching experiences and inspire innovative ideas and approaches among the participants.
During informal discussions after the workshop, Dr. Liao Shu-hui said that the participants had engaged in enthusiastic discussions in the four courses that had been arranged for the workshop, and the views expressed by these Vietnamese teachers of Mandarin are particularly worth Taiwanese teachers of Mandarin being aware of and fully considering, and Dr. Liao would like to have discussion with universities in Vietnam about working together to hold more such professional workshops for teachers of Mandarin.
