Taiwanese boxer Lin Yu-ting is set to compete in the Paris Olympics on the evening of August 2. Prior to the event, media reports surfaced about discriminatory remarks made by a British writer and athletes regarding Lin. Director-General Cheng Shih-chung of the Sports Administration (SA), addressed the issue, stating that Lin was qualified for the Paris Olympics by winning a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games, in accordance with International Olympic Games regulations. SA Director-General Cheng emphasized that Lin has been subjected to the same doping controls and related testing as other athletes, affirming that there is no dispute over her eligibility.

SA Director-General Cheng said that such discriminatory remarks were likely intended to deliberately affect Lin Yu-ting's mood during the competition through the media. It is understandable that the opposing athletes spoke out for their own rights, but their lack of detailed knowledge about the incident led to their erroneous and parochial views. However, the International Olympic Committee promptly issued a statement clarifying, "All athletes participating in the boxing tournament of the Paris 2024 summer Olympic Games comply with the competition's eligibility and entry regulations, as well as all applicable medical regulations."

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Medical Committee conducted a thorough test on Lin Yu-ting during the Hangzhou Asian Games, and confirmed that there are no issues with her eligibility.

SA Director-General Cheng also urged the coach to encourage Lin Yu-ting, advising her not to be swayed by strategic remarks from others and to still strive for the highest honor. He also called on the Taiwanese public to support and cheer the athletes competing on the front line.
