Education Division in Austria attends the International Days at Modul University and University of Applied Sciences Technikum Vienna
The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria was invited by Modul University in Vienna to attend their annual International Day on May 14. International students from Hungary, Croatia, Argentina, Spain, Italy and many other countries prepare traditional food from their home to represent their countries at this event so students can buy different snacks from all over the world, and all the revenue is ultimately donated to social causes. In addition to the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Austria, the Embassy of Malta was also represented.
Unlike the other stalls, the Education Division’s stall informed students about scholarship opportunities, language courses and studying in Taiwan. The Education Division had also prepared a quiz about Taiwan for the students. They could win different prizes, such as chopsticks, bags, or colourful folders, if they were able to answer some questions, for example “What is Taiwan’s population?” and “How tall is the highest mountain in Taiwan?”. The International Day was a great opportunity to talk to students in person, and also to get an impression of other cultures and countries.
The next day, May 15, the Education Division took part in the International Fair at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum. As in 2023, the Education Division was invited to inform students about scholarships and language course opportunities. The university had also invited representatives from many of its partner institutions in the Czech Republic, Mongolia, the Netherlands, Romania, Spain, and many other locations. These representatives provided information about their exchange programmes and some had the opportunity to meet students who will be doing an exchange at their university next semester.
Modul University and the University of Applied Sciences Technikum both already have cooperation partner universities in Taiwan, and the Education Division hopes that exchanges and cooperation between their respective students, teachers and researchers can be further increased, by the universities themselves or through offers made by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. The International Office at the University of Applied Sciences Technikum emphasised how popular Taiwan is as an exchange destination for their students and said that all three of its partner universities—National Taipei University of Technology, National Kaohsiung University of Science and Technology, and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology—are very attractive destinations. Of course, this university of applied sciences specialises in technology and digitalization, and this makes Taiwan a logical choice as a destination for its exchange students. Taiwan's reputation as one of the world's leading technology powerhouses attracts students with a strong affinity for technology, compelling them to visit and study there.
The Education Division is delighted to have been invited by both of these universities to take part in their international days and we hope that we were able to waken an interest in going to Taiwan in some students.
