A Pioneering Partnership: Between an Elementary School in Germany and in Taiwan
A partnership between Bruno-H.-Bürgel Grundschule in Germany and Rixin Elementary School in Taipei represents a significant milestone in educational relations between Germany and Taiwan. It is the first partnership between elementary schools.
Their interaction commenced with a series of online activities throughout the school year. The activities included virtual classroom exchanges and collaborative projects. Students at each school had the opportunity to interact, share details of their different cultures, and work on common educational projects, all of which helped build a strong foundation for their relationship.
In March, a group of fifteen students from Bruno-H.-Bürgel Grundschule, accompanied by their principal Jens Otte and two teachers, visited Rixin Elementary School in Taipei for ten days. During their visit, the German students and teachers attended classes, and took part in school events and cultural and educational activities. The visit provided an immersive experience in Taiwanese culture and education.
In June, it was Rixin Elementary School's turn to visit Berlin. A group of students and teachers from Taipei spent a week exploring the German capital, attending classes at Bruno-H.-Bürgel Grundschule, and taking part in educational activities together with the German students. During their stay in Berlin, the group also visited the Taiwan Representative Office in Germany where they had a meeting with Prof. Dr. Shieh Jhy-Wey 謝志偉, Taiwan’s Representative in Germany who pointed out the significance of such school partnerships, the importance of cultural exchanges, and expressed hopes for more educational collaborations between Germany and Taiwan.
The partnership between Bruno-H.-Bürgel Grundschule and Rixin Elementary School has set a precedent for future educational collaborations between elementary schools in Germany and Taiwan. The students and teachers at these schools each gained valuable insights into each other's cultures and educational systems through online activities and exchange visits. This partnership is enriching the educational experiences of the students and also contributing to mutual understanding and friendship between Germany and Taiwan.
