The Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center (TECC) in India and Aditya University, in Andhra Pradesh, India signed a  memorandum of understanding (MOU) in New Delhi on November 11, 2024. The MOU was signed by Peters Chen 陳立穎, Director of the Education Division at TECC, and Dr. P.S. Ranjit, Dean of International Relations at Aditya University, in a ceremony attended by Baushuan Ger 葛葆萱, Taiwan’s Representative in India, and Mr. Vijaya Koumar, CEO of Inlamobi.

The MOU, signed on India’s National Education Day, is the first MOU for educational collaboration with Taiwan signed by any educational institution in the state of Andhra Pradesh in Eastern India. It will expand Taiwan’s educational outreach across India, further strengthening educational and cultural ties, promoting Mandarin language education, and fostering a deeper understanding of Taiwanese culture among Indian students.

The Education Division at TECC will assist Aditya University to recruit qualified Mandarin teachers from Taiwan who have experience in curriculum design and assessment. The teachers will help the university build an ecosystem to ensure that the students there have opportunities to gain valuable linguistic skills, skills that will be beneficial for working in fields related to Taiwan’s high-tech and industry sectors.

Aditya University will provide dedicated space and resources to host a Taiwan Education Center on campus that includes office facilities, classrooms, and accommodation for visiting instructors. The Taiwan Education Center will also conduct seminars and organize exchange programs that enable students to immerse themselves in Taiwan’s cultural landscape and gain practical language skills.

Director Peters Chen emphasized the importance of the collaboration, saying, “Aditya University has joined an initiative that will strengthen educational exchanges and also foster new culture and industry connections between India and Taiwan. Introducing Mandarin language instruction and Taiwanese cultural programs to this dynamic campus will help build cross-cultural understanding and provide Indian students with essential skills for future jobs.”

The establishment of a Taiwan Education Center in Andhra Pradesh is part of Taiwan’s efforts to create lasting partnerships with educational institutions in India. It reaffirms Taiwan’s commitment to fostering global educational partnerships and cultural exchanges, contributing to a more interconnected academic community in Asia.
