Elite Doctoral Scholarships Available at Paris-Saclay University
On October 15, 2024, the Ministry of Education signed a cooperation agreement with Université Paris-Saclay (UPSaclay), one of France’s top academic institutions, to establish the Taiwan–Université Paris-Saclay Scholarship program. The aim of this initiative is to encourage outstanding Taiwanese students to undertake doctoral studies at UPSaclay.
Each year, the Ministry and the university will jointly select and fund three Taiwanese students to undertake a PhD program at the university. The scholarships will generally cover a period of three years and provide a living stipend to cover the doctoral student’s housing costs, tuition fees, and living expenses, and additional funding exclusively for research and indirect costs.
The new scholarship program gives priority to supporting students in six key research fields that the Science and Technology Cooperation Convention signed by Taiwan and France on 23 November 2023 focuses on: semiconductors and quantum mechanics, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, healthcare, marine science, green energy and carbon reduction industries, and aerospace. Taiwan and France look forward to boosting further exchanges and collaboration in these key scientific areas.
In 2025, the MOE will be conducting a joint PhD scholarship Program in collaboration with 22 universities, including UPSaclay, that rank among the world’s top 100 universities in nine countries: Australia, Belgium, France, Japan, the Netherlands, South Korea, Switzerland, the UK, and the US. Outstanding Taiwanese students aspiring to study at top global institutions are encouraged to visit the application website each year from early November to early December.
