The Sports Administration assists in upgrading grassroots event broadcasting to cultivate new sports broadcast talent
The Sports Administration (SA) has continuously promoted the “Implementation Plan for Subsidizing Domestic Grassroots Sports Event Broadcasting and Marketing Promotion” since 2020, aiming to enhance the exposure and impact of grassroots sports events. On March 28, 2025, a briefing and enhancement course will be held, inviting outstanding sports groups from the program to participate in practical exchanges and experience sharing. This event aims to enhance broadcast quality and to attract more viewers for grassroots sports events. The program provides guidance to sports administration management and sports broadcast media industries within the scope of the “sports industry and its development.” It not only promotes grassroots sports in Taiwan but also fosters the growth of the sports industry.
As of March 2025, the program has approved subsidies for 393 grassroots sports events, with over 3,200 hours of live or recorded broadcasts on TV and various online media platforms. The total viewership and online reach have exceeded 34 million people, covering events such as baseball, badminton, soccer, volleyball, croquet, weightlifting, taekwondo, e-sports, bodybuilding, and more. Promotional videos, event broadcasts, and highlights have been shared on the SA's "動滋Sports" YouTube channel, accumulating over 3.44 million views, not only giving exposure opportunities for sports events and athletes but also increasing the Taiwanese public’s interest in various sports.
Previous grassroots sports event broadcasts mainly focused on schedules, with room for improvement in promotional content. To enhance media broadcasting and marketing, the SA established a task force with sports broadcast experts and scholars, providing guidance on social media marketing, broadcasting techniques, and content presentation. Additionally, trained university students are invited to support event marketing and execution, bringing creativity and timely assistance to grassroots sports.
The “Implementation Plan for Subsidizing Domestic Grassroots Sports Event Broadcasting and Marketing Promotion” briefing and enhancement courses on March 28 will provide insights into subsidy application resources and share successful case studies to help sports groups strengthen their brand impact. The courses will also cover remote editing techniques, real-time highlight release, and multi-angle live streaming operations, enabling grassroots sports events to break through traditional limitations, to use digital age technology and attract more viewers.
The SA aims to strengthen the ability of domestic sports groups to broadcast and market sports events through this program, combining professional event management, excellent athlete competition performance, and the use of new media for broadcast. This will attract more attention to grassroots sports events in Taiwan, promote the industrialized development of grassroots (community) sports events, and, at the same time, provide real-world experience and increased employment opportunities for future sports broadcast professionals, creating a win-win situation. All sports groups and media production units are encouraged to register and collaborate in advancing grassroots sports in Taiwan.
