The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand held the third Study in Taiwan Information Session this year, at Panyapiwat Institute of Management on March 9, 2025. Approximately 130 Thai students, parents, and educators took part, creating a lively, engaging atmosphere.

The information session began with remarks from three distinguished guests: Dr. Doong Sy-Chi董公使, Deputy Representative at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, Ms. Hsueh Yi-Han 薛懿含, Second Secretary at the Education Division there, and Ms. Pitchaya Tiyarattanachai, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts at Panyapiwat Institute of Management. They all encouraged Thai students to actively apply for various Taiwan scholarship programs and seize the opportunities available to undertake higher education in Taiwan, enhance their academic skills, and expand their global perspectives.

Deputy Representative Doong Sy-Chi expressed his gratitude for the strong support of all participants and emphasized Taiwan's commitment to deepening educational cooperation with Thailand. He mentioned key Ministry of Education scholarship programs—the Taiwan Scholarships, for degree studies; the Huayu Enrichment Scholarships, for language study, and the Taiwan Experience Education Program (TEEP) which offers international students opportunities for short-term professional internships and valuable study and research experiences. He pointed out that Taiwan has an outstanding higher education system in a free and open academic environment, and a comprehensive public healthcare, clean cities, a welcoming democratic society, and an efficient transportation network. These factors all make Taiwan a popular destination for international students, and Taiwan 's vibrant food culture adds to its appeal for foreign students.

Ms. Pitchaya Tiyarattanachai also thanked the participants for coming to the session, and she expressed her appreciation to Taiwan’s Ministry of Education for providing high-quality learning opportunities for Thai students. She said that the Study in Taiwan Information Session would help students have a deeper understanding of Taiwan’s education environment and expressed hope that there would be more collaboration between Thailand and Taiwan in the future.

A feature of the information session was a detailed scholarship application guidance session. Staff of the Education Division and the Taiwan Education Center in Thailand provided step-by-step explanations of the eligibility criteria, required documents, and application procedures to assist students to apply for Ministry of Education scholarships. Three Thai alumni who previously received Ministry scholarships then talked about their personal study-abroad experiences—including their academic courses, language learning, cultural adaptation, and social life in Taiwan, and their careers after graduating—and they answered questions raised by the students attending.

Like many Thai people who’ve studied in Taiwan, they said that as well as providing them with quality education, being immersed in Taiwan’s culture had enriched their lives. They had many fond memories of Taiwan’s friendly people, wonderful diverse cuisine, and were impressed by Taiwan’s convenient transportation. Their testimonials gave attendees a clearer idea of what to expect studying and living in Taiwan and made them feel more confident about going to university there.

Representatives from several Taiwanese universities, including Ming Chuan University and National Pingtung University of Science and Technology also took part. They outlined their respective institutions’ academic strengths, popular programs, and admission requirements, and a dedicated one-on-one consultation area was set up, allowing students and parents to receive personalized guidance on study options.

The 2025 Study in Taiwan Information Session provided the attendees with comprehensive details about scholarships, firsthand experiences from former Thai students, and information from university representatives. The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand will continue promoting educational exchanges between Thailand and Taiwan, and it will continue providing Thai students with essential resources to facilitate their academic journeys in Taiwan, to help students broaden their international horizons and achieve their educational aspirations.
