Responding to the 515 International Day of Families The Ministry of Education short video contest sparks a wave of creativity across Taiwan
To advocate the importance of families around the world, the United Nations has designated May 15th as the International Day of Families since 1994. This day emphasizes the value of building warm, caring, safe, united, inclusive, and accepting families through life and love. In 2025, in support of this vision, the Ministry of Education (MOE) is responding to the International Day of Families under this year’s theme “Walking with Love, Shaping Happiness”. The MOE invites the public to share their “Moments of Happiness” through short videos that capture the joyful, touching, and precious moments of happiness created through human relationships.
Today, May 15th, the MOE held a press conference and an award ceremony for the “515 International Day of Families and Short Video Contest” at the International Convention Center of National Taiwan University Hospital. A promotional video titled “Moments of Happiness” was screened during the event, and the winners were announced. This year’s contest, open to participants across Taiwan and held in the form of short videos, received an enthusiastic response. People were encouraged to use smartphones and cameras to capture and record their most genuine and moving moments of happiness.
The MOE hopes that these International Day of Families activities will inspire the public to recognize their joyful, touching, and precious moments of happiness created through human relationships. In collaboration with the four regional family education centers located in the north, central, south, and east of Taiwan, the MOE is also providing resources to boost video storytelling skills. Through simple videos, heartfelt hugs or comforting words, the MOE is committed to supporting the people of Taiwan, as well as helping happiness take root and flourish in every family across the nation!
