On 8 November, 2013 the Australian National University (ANU) signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan), to extend the highly successful Taiwan Studies Program for a new three years term.

The well established Taiwan Studies program is in the School of Culture, History and Language in the College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University. The program includes courses in history, cinema, culture, arts, calligraphy, language, and literature.

Since the extension of the program has been signed, the School has advertised to appoint a senior lecturer in Taiwan Studies for 3 years to act as its director. The person appointed will take a leading role in the development and implementation of the established Taiwan Studies Program, and continue to enhance knowledge of the history, society, languages and culture of Taiwan, and make this more broadly available. They will also work to promote Taiwan Studies at the university. As well as supervising students whose honours, postgraduate, and research degree level studies relate to Taiwan, they may also be engaged in the MA in Translation program, as part of the interaction with the wider university, and enhance Taiwan’s academic engagement with the Asia-Pacific region.
