HUBrussel (HUB), a member of the KU Leuven Association, started its Chinese classes again on September 23. This is the fourth year in a row. HUB has offered Chinese classes since 2011 in collaboration with the Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium, in response to an enthusiastic demand for opportunities to learn Chinese.

HUB offers both daytime (credit) and evening (non-credit) classes for beginners. The day class started on September 23, and the evening class on September 25. The teacher Twricy Hsu will teach students about 150 characters and basic communication skills for daily life. She also gives them an introduction to Chinese culture and cultural activities, such as calligraphy, through hands-on exercises. The best student in the classes will receive a scholarship to attend a month-long summer intensive course in Taiwan! Next year, in 2015, HUB will also offer a summer intensive course to help students prepare to take the Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language (TOCFL). Successful test-takers receive a certificate of their language proficiency.
