Shizuoka (靜岡) Prefectural Cultural and Tourism Office hosted an “Overseas Study Fair” in Fuji (富士) in Japan on Sunday, 13th December 2015 from 11am to 4:30pm in Shizuoka. Shizuoka prefecture invited ambassadors and representatives from different countries to set up a booth at the education fair. Participating students could consult the ambassadors and representatives about studying overseas in their particular country and be provided with necessary information.

Approximately 150 Japanese students took advantage of this opportunity to learn more about options for studying overseas.

The education fair began with an opening address by Ms. Mori Riyo(森理世). The participating students then interacted with Japanese students who have previously gone and studied abroad and heard about their experiences.

Mr. Huang Sheng-Ming (黃聖明) from the Education Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Japan and Ms. Kuo Yen-Na (郭艷娜), Director of the Taiwan Education Center in Japan accepted an invitation and attended as the primary consultants at the Taiwanese booth. Fifteen Japanese students who were very interested in studying abroad in Taiwan visited the booth.

Mr. Huang and Ms. Kuo focused on explaining the advantages of studying in Taiwan to the students. For example, tuition fees in Taiwan are lower than in Japan, Taiwanese society is stable and the crime rate is low; and Taiwan and Japan have a fairly similar culture, so it should be easy to get used to the Taiwanese environment. They also pointed out that learning Mandarin Chinese is the current trend around the globe, and that Taiwan maintains many traditional aspects of Chinese culture and continues to use the traditional forms of the characters.

Taiwan reliably provides quality education, and universities in Taiwan offer an enormous range of short, and medium-length courses, such as business Chinese, as well as long courses, and higher education programs .… Each student can select the course that best fits their needs, so coming to Taiwan is definitely an ideal choice.
