The Technical Planning Secretariat of Paraguay (STP) was the venue for a meeting organized to bring together students who are interested in pursuing higher studies in the Republic of China (Taiwan), held on the 24th of February.

The Executive Director of the STP, Mr. José Molinas Vega; and the Ambassador of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in Paraguay, Mr. Alexander Yui; were invited to attend the meeting. Former students who had previously won a scholarship to study in Taiwan were also invited to attend, to share their experiences with the audience.

This was an excellent opportunity to give the audience details of the Don Carlos Antonio López National Scholarship Program for Studying Abroad (CAL). CAL is a program offered by the Paraguayan government to enhance Paraquay’s research capacity in the fields of science and technology. It will fully reimburse the tuition costs for students and teachers attending prestigious universities abroad, chosen on the basis of recognized worldwide ranking systems, such as the Times Higher Education, QS, and Academic Ranking of World Universities.
Universities in Taiwan, including National Taiwan University, National Tsing Hua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Cheng Kung University among others, are among the prestigious universities that outstanding students in Paraguay have an opportunity to win a CAL scholarship to attend.

Details of the different scholarship programs offered by the Taiwan Government of the Republic of China were also provided. The former students who had won a scholarship and studied in Taiwan emphasized that Taiwan has had many breakthroughs in technology fields and that the great amount of knowledge they gained trough their studies can be applied in Paraguay.
