The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Youth News host the Student Counseling Day at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology each year, to help Vietnamese high school students make the best choice about where to undertake their tertiary level studies. The annual Student Counseling Day has been held for more than 15 years now, and it usually attracts from 15,000 to 20,000 high school students and parents. This year there was a slightly lower student attendance of about 12,000, due to poor weather.
The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Ho Chi Minh took part and had a booth providing information about the wide range of opportunities for studying in Taiwan, and scholarships available. Education Division staff handed out more than 9,000 pamphlets giving the students information written in Vietnamese about Taiwan’s education system and about studying in Taiwan, along with the information materials provided by individual educational institutions in Taiwan.
The students were all very impressed by what they learnt about education in Taiwan and asked many questions about the application process. Despite the poor weather, this year’s whole Student Counseling Day was very helpful to the students attending and very productive.
The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office is also hosting a Study in Taiwan Seminar in February, in March, and in April and asks interested people to attend. Nearly 200 people have already applied to come to one of these seminars
