Dr. Wu Cheng-Chih, the vice president of National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) and Dr. Greg Lee, a professor in the Department of Information and Computer Education at NTNU, visited Prof. Dr. Klaus Muehlhahn, the vice president of Freie Universität Berlin (FU Berlin), on February 14, 2017, accompanied by Ms. Weng Chin-Ying, Director of the Education Division at Taipei Representative Office in Germany.
The representatives of the two universities discussed maintaining their existing partnership and options for further exchanges in the near future, especially with the Department of Information and Computer Education at NTNU.
Prof. Dr. Muehlhahn welcomed the refreshing suggestions by NTNU for project-oriented cooperation, building of joint start-ups, and/or organizing traineeship for students at both universities. These are innovative approaches going beyond the traditional academic exchange models.
Prof. Dr. Muehlhahn also encouraged students at NTNU to come to FU Berlin to study. This German university offers a range of master’s degree programs fully taught in English, so students who don’t have a knowledge of the German language would not be disadvantaged. Dr. Wu Cheng-Chih confirmed the excellent reputation that FU Berlin enjoys and he proposed that the two universities should renew their current MOU to extend their current sister-university status and continue strengthening their practical collborations.
