In May 2008, Ministry of Education announced the amended Grade 1-9 Curriculum Guidelines, which means basic knowledge of media literacy will be covered. Textbooks conformed to the new curriculum will be realized by 2011. To lay down a set of complementary measures in facilitating the policy, Ministry of Education started the campaign - Promotion of Media Literacy in Elementary and Junior High Schools. On November 20, Vice Minister of Education Lu Mu-lin attended the press conference for the campaign, where he led the inauguration ceremony.
