Taiwan Higher Education Fair coming to New York
On July 22, Mulin Lu and Kuo-wei Liu of Ming Chuan University, Education Director CJ Liu, and Ambassador Andrew Kao met the press to announce that New York would host the 2013 Taiwan Higher Education Fair.
Last year, Los Angeles hosted the fair, giving many students in the Los Angeles area an opportunity to learn about schools and language programs in Taiwan. Ambassador Andrew Kao and Education Director CJ Liu both warmly welcomed the fair organizers to New York, where this year’s fair would be held August 24-25 at Taiwan Center in Flushing, New York.
Schools, colleges and universities around the world are currently looking to internationalize their campuses. Holding education fairs is an excellent way for Taiwan to reach out to prospective students from different corners.
Dr. Kuo Wei Liu, Director of International Education and Exchange Division of Ming Chuan University describes Taiwan as a “gateway” to the rest of Asia, and urges children of first and second generation immigrants from Taiwan to take advantage of the study opportunities this gateway provides. Many universities are offering generous scholarships and, by popular demand, many medical schools were present this year.
Over 20 different universities participated this year, including National Taiwan University, National Chengchi University, National Tsinghua University, National Chiao Tung University, and National Taiwan Normal University.
The 2013 Taiwan Higher Education Fair was held in New York on August 24 (10am-5pm) and August 25 (10am-1pm), at Taiwan Center (137-44 Northern Blvd., Flushing, New York 11354).
