The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Houston recently hosted a successful workshop for Taiwan student associations from 17 different universities and colleges, on November 8, 2013. This well-attended event, held at the Double Tree – Dallas Hilton, also included 30 presidents and board members, in addition to other Taiwan student association representatives.
In support of the Ministry of Education in Taiwan’s efforts to promote better understandings and to strengthen existing network connections with Taiwan student associations in Texas, Director General Steve Hsia and other members from the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, in Houston (TECO) provided brief overviews of the support services that TECO Houston can provide for Taiwan students.
Given the changing global environments and how they affect students from Taiwan that are living and studying overseas, the Education Division invited Dr. Hsiao-Ming Wang, from the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Houston-Downtown and well-known Houston lawyer Steward Lin to present to the students, valuable information about personal security and the law.
