Austrian team The Wonderwuzzis wins bronze at 10th International Senior High Schools Intelligent Ironman Creativity Contest in Taiwan
The Wonderwuzzis, an Austrian team of six students from three senior high schools in Vienna, came to Taiwan to participate in the 12th International Intelligent Ironman Creativity Contest hosted by Asia University in Taichung city from August 1 to August 5.
The International Intelligent Ironman Creativity contest is an annual educational event that requires students to combine their knowledge, physical strength, hardiness, creativity, and teamwork to fulfill the requirements of many tasks. It challenges the students to creatively use what they’ve learned in school, with a focus on natural and social sciences, and their physical fitness. The contest was inspired by the Ironman event in sport and similarly calls on students to push their body and mind to their limits. As a team, students should create something the world has not seen before in the 72-hour non-stop competition.
This year, the contest more than 30 teams competed, six of them in the international division, coming from Austria, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. The Austrian team was awarded third place overall in the international division. The total score is calculated by adding the scores awarded for the main project, and for side tasks. One side task, the dance competition, earned the Austrian team first place.
