Assoc. Prof. Kamjorn Tatiyakavee, Secretary-General of the Office of the Higher Education Commission (OHEC) of the Ministry of Education in Thailand led a delegation of 120 presidents and directors from universities and colleges in Thailand on a visit to Taiwan to attend the 4th Taiwan-Thailand Higher Education Forum from November 23 to 26, 20143.

Besides the Forum, the Ministry of Education in Taiwan also arranged for Dr. Kamjorn and 19 OHEC officials and directors of university business incubation centers in Thailand to visit business incubation centers at National Kaohsiung Marine University, National Chiao Tung University, and Chang Gung University. They also visited Fo Guang Shan Buddha Memorial Center, Chang Gung Museum, Taoyuan Sake Brewery, and Painted Village.

Dr. Kamjorn earned his degree in Medicine at Chulalongjorn University and served in the universities and OHEC for many years. He is an expert in both medical education and higher education. He led the team of government officials and directors of universities in Thailand working to foster cooperation with Taiwan in higher education, especially in the area of accelerating the partnerships between academia and industry in both countries.

Mr. Jiang Wongsawatsuriya and Mr. Boonsong Chanpabhoti, senior advisers of the Office of Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), the Ministry of Education in Thailand also led officials and directors of technical colleges to attend the Forum and study visits to universities in Taiwan. The combined number of visitors from OHEC and OVEC makes this the biggest group of officials from the Ministry of Education in Thailand in recent years.

Taiwan and Thailand share a very special well-established cooperative relationship. After the visit of Dr. Kamjorn and many other educational officials from Thailand, we believe that this relationship will continue and flourish and expand. We look forward to more and more people becoming interested in exploring areas of common interest and investing in educational development to create situations of mutual benefit.
