2nd Book donation to Belgian Institute for Higher Chinese Studies
On June 12 the Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium presented a donation of 186 books to the China Library of the Belgian Institute for Higher Chinese Studies (BIHCS). The books cover the areas of traditional and contemporary art, and calligraphy in Taiwan, perfectly complementing the already rich collection of Asian art books in the library. They will facilitate the study of Taiwan’s arts in particular.
The books were officially handed over to the China Library during a ceremony in the China halls of the Museum Cinquantenaire. The Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium was represented by Hsu Huei-wen, Director of the Education Division. During a short speech, Jean-Marie Simonet, director of BIHCS, expressed his gratitude for the highly valuable book donation. Hsu Huei-wen expressed hope that the books will stimulate further interest in Taiwan’s art and culture, and that the donation will enhance collaboration between Taiwan and the BIHCS in the future. Fifty people stayed to attend a reception held after the ceremony, and to enjoy the welcoming atmosphere and beauty of the location.
