Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City promotes Education in Taiwan on Student Recruitment Day

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Youth News host the Student Counseling Day at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology each year, to help Vietnamese high school students make the best choice about where to undertake their tertiary level studies. The annual Student Counseling Day has been held for more than 15 years now, and it usually attracts between 15,000 tand 22,000 high school students and parents. This year over 20,000 students attended. The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Ho Chi Minh City took part, with a booth providing information about the wide range of opportunities for studying in Taiwan, and scholarships available. Education Division staff handed out more than10,000 pamphlets, giving the students information written in Vietnamese about Taiwan’s education system and about studying in Taiwan, along with information materials provided by individual educational institutions in Taiwan. Moreover, in order to assist universities in Taiwan with student recruitment, the Education Division made a special request of the organizer to reserve ten booths for universities in Taiwan to use to disperse information about their programs to the many students participating. All ten universities consider that the event was very successful. They were amazed to see that many high school graduates in Vietnam can speak fluent Chinese, and the students were very impressed by what they learnt about education in Taiwan and asked many questions about the application process. This year’s Student Counseling Day was very helpful to the students attending and very productive. The Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office is also hosting Study in Taiwan seminars in February, in March, and in April open to the general public, and nearly 200 people have already applied to attend one of these seminars.
