Providence University Celebrates the Inauguration of the Taiwan–Thailand (TT) Link Office at Chiangmai University

As part of an effort to further expand the magnitude and range of academic exchanges between higher education institutions in Taiwan and Northern Thailand, the Taiwan–Thailand (TT) Academic Link Office was officially inaugurated on February 12, 2018. The office, in the new research building of the Faculty of Economics at Chiang Mai University, was established through the joint efforts of Providence University and Chiang Mai University, and with financial support from the Ministry of Education, Taiwan under the Taiwan Link Project which began in August 2017.
Numerous meetings were held in Bangkok and Chiangmai last November, allowing PU to gather opinions and feedback from the Taipei Economic and Culture Office in Thailand, the Taiwan Business Association, and local universities and high schools, about the TT Academic Link Office being newly established. Providence University has also signed MOUs with several renowned industries and educational institutions in Thailand, each providing a framework for bilateral collaboration. Starting this year, both Providence University and Chiang Mai University will also commence international research collaboration through the TT Academic Link Office.
“Providence University is a prominent Catholic university in Taiwan, founded by the Sisters of Providence, Indiana, USA. It traces its roots back to almost a hundred years ago, when the sisters founded the Hua-Mei elementary school and high school for girls in Kaifeng in Henan Province, and later, Providence University in Taiwan in 1956. Our history is why we like to see internationalization as our innate DNA. We’re glad to work with the Ministry of Education of Taiwan under the recently initiated New Southbound Policy and we will continue to contribute our influence as a member of the Christian community.” said Dr. Tang Chuan-Yi, the president of Providence University, on the establishment of the Taiwan–Thailand Academic Link Office.
