Director of Education Division, TECO in Malaysia attends Facon Education Fair in Kuala Lumpur
Mr. Chang Jiunn-Jiun, Director of the Education Division of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Malaysia, attended the opening ceremony of the Facon Education Fair at the Kuala Lumpur City Centre (KLCC) Convention Centre, on December 15, 2018.
While there, he met with Madam Teo Nie Ching, Deputy Minister of Education in Malaysia. They exchanged views on a number of educational issues and discussed the potential for future collaboration, especially regarding skills training and teacher training programs. Mr. Chang also told her about some initiatives implemented by the Ministry of Education, R.O.C. (Taiwan) to promote Mandarin studies in Taiwan. He mentioned that in recent years, as well as those interested in undertaking a degree program in Taiwan, more Malaysian students are now going Taiwan to study Mandarin there, especially Malaysian students of Malay ethnicity.
Deputy Minister Teo said that the educational cooperation between Taiwan and Malaysia has increased greatly in the past few years, and that she looks forward to maintaining and steadily developing bilateral relations in the future.
After their discussion, Deputy Minister Teo and Director Chang visited the booth of the Organization of Taiwan Education and Cultural, Malaysia at the fair and spoke with its chairman, Mr. Beh Chew Nam, The chairman said that the organization is working together with more than 40 universities in Taiwan that offer professional and technology related programs, and it provides advice and assistance for Malaysian students interested in further study in Taiwan.
