Education Division in Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh Co-hosts Conference for Mandarin Teachers in Central Vietnam
Mandarin Teachers in Central Vietnam Conference, held on December, 2019.
Dr. Thi Thanh Phuong, Vice Rector of the University of Foreign Languages and Studies gave a welcoming speech in which she said that the relations between Taiwan and Vietnam are very close, and that this conference would certainly enhance Mandarin teaching in central Vietnam. She also said that the university was very happy to cohost this event and will continue to work with the Education Division in the future.
Ms. Tina Ou, Education Attaché of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City also welcomed the conference participants and then gave them an outline of Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy. She urged the teachers to encourage their students in central Vietnam to go to Taiwan and then work with the Taiwanese business people in the Da Nang area.
Ms. Tsai Yun-Yeh, a teacher of Mandarin at the European International School in Taiwan, to share details of her teaching experience and new pedagogy with the conference participants. The teachers were all very enthusiastic about learning new ways to teach Mandarin, and many decided to utilize new methods when they are teaching in their universities.
The conference was followed by a dinner that was also attended by the president of the Taiwanese Business Association and some of its members, giving them an opportunity to discuss their needs for Mandarin speaking staff with the Mandarin teachers. The conference and the dinner helped set up practical links between the Mandarin teachers and the Taiwanese business people.
