Ministry of Education's Deputy Minister Dr. Mu-Lin Lu received officials from George Washington University (GW) on June 9, 2005.

Heading the delegation from GW was Dr. Donald R. Lehman, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. Delegation members included Dr. Timothy W. Tong, Dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, Dr. Thomas Mazzuchi, Dean of the School of Engineering Management and Dr. Shahram Sarkani, Professor of Engineering Management.

Discussions included the Memorandum of Agreement between GW and Yuan Ze University for the exchange of faculty and students from Taiwan and a pending Agreement with the National Kaohsiung First University of Science and Technology.

The delegates spoke highly of the Taiwanese students attending George Washington University and expressed on-going interest in working with Taiwan's institutions of higher education, in order to provide educational opportunities for Taiwan's students. Discussions will continue upon the visit of GW's President, Dr. Stephen Joel Trachtenberg, to Taiwan, at the end of this year.
