The “Southern Branch of the National Central Library and National Repository Library Construction Project,” which was submitted by the Ministry of Education and National Central Library, was approved by the Executive Yuan on December 28, 2017. Construction will go from 2018-2025. All subprojects started in January 2018. Construction of this new facility will enable NCL to better meet the needs of patrons in the south, reduce the age of patrons served and thus make library services more complete, mitigate the critical space issue in many types of libraries, preserve national cultural assets in the form of books and digital resources.
