The Ministry of Education has been implementing this Plan since 2007. It provides subsidies to encourage students currently attending Taiwan’s universities and tertiary colleges who have excellent results to go abroad and do advanced study at a university or tertiary college, or an internship with a company or an institute.

The Plan expands the opportunities for young scholars in Taiwan with great potential to interact with people internationally and engage in collaborative activities. They will become highly skilled professionals with an international perspective and practical experience. It also increases the opportunities for young scholars in Taiwan to do research overseas.

  • Subsidies for Outstanding Students to Study Overseas

Taiwan’s Ministry of Education provides subsidy funding to assist outstanding students study overseas. They can enroll in exchange programs or joint degree programs at internationally renowned universities. The purpose of the funding is to enable the students to fully experience attending university and living overseas, and gain a deeper understanding of the international community. It provides funds for an economy class round trip airfare, tuition fees, and a living allowance.

  • Subsidies for Professional Internships Overseas

These Ministry of Education subsidies are for current students to go overseas and undertake an internship with a company or professional body. The purpose is for the students to accumulate practical training and experience in professional work places. The subsidies can be used for an economy class round trip airfare, and a living allowance.

Each student is recommended by the university where they are studying. This Plan gives young students opportunities to establish links with the international community, and it has been highly praised and welcomed by faculty and students at Taiwan’s universities and tertiary colleges.
