Ministry of Education Policy Objectives for 2021(January–December)

  1. Extend provision of affordable educare services, continue to increase the availability of public preschools, and strengthen quasi-public mechanisms; gradually increase the amount of childcare for parents of children up to 6 years old to reduce the burden of child-raising; promote uniform provision of high-quality education by senior secondary schools; encourage students to attend a school close to their home, and implement the 12-Year Basic Education Curriculum Guidelines to allow every child to achieve.

  2. Develop diverse and innovative higher education; continue to promote measures to train, retain, and attract highly skilled people; boost links between industry, education, and research; optimize the practical training environments provided by technical and vocational education institutions; continue encouraging universities and colleges to meet their social responsibilities in practical ways and strengthen links and the sharing of resources within local regions.

  3. Provide advanced digital learning environments, promote the Taiwan’s Bilingual Nation Policy, and intensify implementation of New Southbound Policy related education and training; expand the scope of young people’s participation in public and community affairs; and enhance the creativity and dynamism of the government’s performance.

  4. Take steps to prevent bullying on campuses and prevent drugs from entering campuses, improve the earthquake resistance of buildings on campuses, and enhance campus food safety; protect the educational rights of students in rural areas, students whose families are socio-economically disadvantaged, students with disabilities, and other vulnerable students; train outstanding, qualified teachers; strengthen provision of safe learning environments in which students can focus on learning, and protection of children and young people; respect ethnic diversity, and encourage different ethnic groups to maintain their own languages and cultures; improve access to ongoing learning and education for all senior citizens, and create a “lifelong learning for all” society.         

  5. Provide safe and user-friendly sports environments, and strongly promote making regular exercise a norm for the entire population; improve national sports training facilities, and support athletes’ competition related requirements; help sports-related organizations to operate soundly and effectively, and support private sector development of Taiwan’s sports and leisure industry; actively participate in different international sports, focus on the comprehensive training of top athletes, and thereby improve Taiwan’s competitiveness in international sporting events.
