First ever Calligraphy Event at HUBrussel great success
Over 50 students and their friends took part in a calligraphy event organized by the Education Division of the Taipei Representative Office in the EU & Belgium at Hogeschool-Universiteit Brussel (HUB) on March 20. Teacher Twricy Hsu taught them the calligraphy basics, such as brush grip, the stroke-writing sequence, and how much strength to apply. Ms. Huei-wen Hsu, Director of the Education Division, explained some of the meanings behind Chinese characters and helped them to appreciate the fun aspects of learning a character language.
All the participants greatly enjoyed practising their skills and experimenting with writing different characters. At the end of the 2-hour activity they each received a souvenir for their work. They were particularly excited at the thought of showing off their creations to their friends and family at home. Given the success of the event, it is planned to discuss more such cultural activities to promote and enhance Chinese language learning.
